Roadside retail giant ‘fills up’ on support for adoption

Blackburn-based leading international forecourt operator, Euro Garages is raising awareness of the need for more adopters with Adoption Now, who currently have 80 children waiting to find families.

As part of this collaboration, adoption opportunities will be marketed in 40 petrol forecourts across the North West and championed internally with their 8,500 UK colleagues.

The partnership is aiming to promote Adoption Now’s service and recruit more families for local children awaiting adoption.

Ilyas Munshi, Group Commercial Director, Euro Garages, said: “Providing young children with a safe and caring family environment is important as we are investing in all our futures. We are extremely pleased to be working in partnership with Adoption Now to find loving families for local children. As a company we are extremely keen to give back to our local community and this is such an important cause we are more than happy to give our support and do whatever we can to help.”

Euro Garages was founded in 2001 with the acquisition of a single petrol filling station in Bury, and now operates 360 sites across the UK including in excess of 104 Starbucks drive-to and drive-thru restaurants, 50 Burger Kings, 172 Subway sub-stations and 144 Greggs bakeries.

Ilyas added: “Given the frequency of forecourt customers, we are in a fantastic and unique position to promote adoption to thousands of people whenever they visit us to fill up their cars or pick up refreshments for a long journey; and our customers come from a wide variety of backgrounds which is exactly what we need to find the best homes for these children. I hope this is a partnership that will continue for years to come.”

There are currently 80 children waiting for adoption with Adoption Now and some of these children can wait often longer than others to find families, such as those with additional needs, older children, sibling groups and children from some ethnic minority backgrounds.

Karen Barrick, head of service at Adoption Now, said: “We are actively looking for adopters who can provide safe, loving and supportive environments for our children, where they can play, learn and grow up happily. That’s why I am really pleased to be working with Euro Garages and thankful for all their support; I know that by working together we can really make a positive difference to our children’s lives.”
